2026 Wild Blueberry Crop Report

News & Blog

Wild Blueberry Crop Improves Compared to 2025, While Inventories Remain Limited

The 2026 wild blueberry harvest took place under generally favorable conditions across the major producing regions of North America. Following a 2025 season marked by certain weather-related challenges, the return of more stable growing conditions contributed to improved yields and fruit quality.

In Quebec, snow cover during the winter helped protect plants throughout their dormant period, supporting a strong start to the growing season in the spring. Adequate rainfall and favorable temperatures throughout the season promoted healthy plant development. Although the start of the season was delayed in some areas, summer growing conditions supported good crop progression, resulting in yields that exceeded those of the previous year.

In the Maritimes, while some areas experienced localized drought conditions or variable precipitation levels, growing conditions generally supported blueberry plant development. As a result, production increased across the region, particularly in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, where harvested volumes were higher than in 2025.

In Maine, weather conditions throughout the season supported plant development as well as fruit set and maturation. Thanks to generally more favorable growing conditions than in 2025, growers benefited from improved yield potential. However, despite this improvement, the crop is expected to remain below typical regional levels.
